What
is Multi-Tapping?
When you create
a text message, the use of your cell phone keypad to "type"
words is called "multi-tapping."
Multi-tapping is still widely used for SMS, as each phone keypad
number is associated with a certain letter of the alphabet. Your
phone has a mode that allows you to enter letters rather than numbers.
This is different on all phone models, so your particular cell phone
manual is essential in learning to text message.
Generally there
are two or three letters by each number on your cell phone keypad.
Therefore you would need to "multi-tap" to advance to
the desired letter in a sequence. For example - D is first in the
sequence with the number 3 on the keypad. O is third in the sequence
with 6, G first with the number 4. So to text the word dog - you
would Press 3 once, 6 - 3 times and 4 once. Now this may seem time-consuming
- and at first it will be. However, you will be amazed at how quickly
you become familiar with your phone's keypad - and you'll be shooting
off text messages like a pro in no time...with the help of some
SMS abbreviations.
